Which bracket is required for my awning?
With so many awning and roof-rack systems available, choosing the correct bracket is crucial for safe and stable installation and use. We have created this simple guide to help narrow down the suitable options.
For Pull-Out Awnings:
Whether you are mounting your awning to a platform or crossbars, we recommend utilising an L-bracket. These will come with all, if not most, pull-out awnings.
We recommend mounting this bracket to your crossbars or platform with our universal awning bolt kit. Otherwise if you are looking for a quick release mounting kit, we recommend Rhino Rack’s Stow It system, this will require their base kit and awning adaptor, this is a great universal fitment, as the base kit can be used for other accessories such as lightbars and shovel holders.
For 180° or 270° Awnings:
If you are looking to mount a 180 or 270 awning, you will need to pair this with a bracket that can support the weight.
The most popular options when it comes to suitable awning brackets are the Darche & Kaon 180/270 awning brackets, which are available in the following options:
Long fixed position bracket - these provide extra support, and the ability to mount across two north-to-south platform slats or extra stability for east-to-west platform slats.
Adjustable position brackets: Darche adjustable bracket or Kaon 270 brackets - these are a popular choice if you require vertical adjustment or easier fit under low ceilings: Darche adjustable brackets or Kaon’s 270‑bracket kits allow fine-tuned positioning and even weight distribution. The required bracket will vary depending on your platform, or crossbars.
