What size Roof Box/Pod do I need to get?
There are a few things that you will need to consider before choosing which Roof Box/Pod to purchase.
The first thing to consider is the size of your vehicle. Not all Roof Boxes are suitable for every car. For example, an XXL Roof Box will be too large for a small hatchback, such as a Hyundai i30. It’s important to ensure that the dimensions of the Roof Box align with your car's roof size and weight capacity.
Another crucial consideration is the type of roof racks your vehicle has. Are they fixed position or adjustable? For instance, clamp-style racks offer more flexibility, while fixed-position racks may limit your choice of Roof Box size. The type of mounting system can affect how far forward or backward the Roof Box can be positioned on the roof.
You should also take into consideration how the back door of your vehicle opens. Some cars like hatch backs or SUVs have a lift up tailgate with a built on wind defuser. This can limit the amount of space available for mounting your Roof Box, as you may need to position it further forward to ensure it doesn't interfere with the tailgate. In some cases, you may even need to opt for a smaller Roof Box to allow for proper clearance when opening the rear door.

Finally, think about what you plan to carry in your Roof Box. If you’re travelling with large items, such as a pram or several bags, you may need a larger Roof Box. On the other hand, if you’re planning to take a kayak or bike, a narrower Roof Box might be ideal. This would leave enough room on the roof rack for a suitable carrier for those items, while still offering enough space in the Roof Box for clothes, sleeping bags, or blankets.
