How do you mount a rooftop tent?

Below are a few ways that a rooftop tent can be fitted:

• U-Bolt System:

The most common way to fit a rooftop tent is a U-bolt system which is usually 2 bolts that slide into the channel under the tent that will hang down either side of your roof racks and a flat plate (some tents will have plate that is bent to the shape of a roof rack) under the roof rack secured by nyloc nuts.

• Quick Release Mounting System:

Quick release systems allow you to easily remove and install your rooftop tent using brackets that either clamp to your roof racks or bolt into the mounting channels. In some cases rooftop tents will include a quick release system, or alternatively you can purchase these separately.

• Custom Fit:

If you find that your set-up cannot necessarily utilise any of the mounting systems listed above, we would recommend getting in touch with your nearest store fitters to enquire about a custom solution to suit your needs.

When trying to fit a roof top tent to a platform, any of these methods could work depending on what brand and style of platform you have.
