Do I need specific roof racks for a rooftop tent?

Whilst specific racks are not required for a rooftop tent, we always recommend a through-style crossbar system - ideally a 3 Bar fitment or alternatively, a 2 Bar fitment if the weight load rating of a 2 bar system can accommodate your tent.

Bar systems are recommended as they are the most versatile across a wide range of rooftop tent mounting hardware and will provide the best support for your set-up.

It is not a requirement for you to have a platform to mount a rooftop tent to, as it does take away from the overall weight capacity of the vehicle and allowance for a rooftop tent however, it is definitely possible. If a platform system is preferred, please feel free to enquire with your nearest store fitters to ensure this will be a safe and secure option for you.
