Can I open my rear hatch with the holder installed?

Whether you can open your rear hatch while a ski or fishing rod holder is installed largely depends on how the roof racks are positioned and the length of the equipment you're carrying. In many cases, shorter skis or rods won’t interfere with hatch access, especially if the racks are mounted more centrally or toward the front of the roof. However, if the holder is positioned too far toward the rear or you’re carrying longer gear, the hatch may not open fully, or it could make contact with the equipment.

It’s always a good idea to test the clearance before heading off, especially if you regularly access the rear of your vehicle. If needed, adjusting the position of the roof racks or slightly offsetting the gear may help improve clearance and avoid obstruction.
