Can I mount an awning across my canopy and the cab of my vehicle?
Mounting an awning across both your canopy and cab is generally not recommended due to what’s known as a contrary twist. As your vehicle travels, especially over uneven or off-road terrain, the chassis flexes and twists between the cab and the canopy.
Because these two parts of your vehicle move independently, mounting an awning that spans across the cab and canopy can cause excessive stress on the awning frame and mounting points of both the bracket and the roof racks. This stress can cause damage such as warped or cracked awning components, loosening or failure of mounts, and even bending or weakening of your roof racks over time.
To protect your vehicle's roof rack system and ensure safe use, it’s best to install the awning only on either the canopy or the cab, where mounting points are designed to handle the load without being affected by this twisting motion.
If you’re unsure which mounting option suits your vehicle, our team is here to help you find the safest and most durable setup for your awning.
