Can I mount a platform on my existing roof bars?

Our suppliers have, in most cases, intended for their platforms to be mounted to your roof directly using their legs or spine systems. There are a few platforms that are designed to be mounted to cross bars such as the Universal Pioneer models from Rhino Rack.

The Rola Titan Tray is also able to be mounted to either bars or Rolas mountings.

There are restrictions on which bars these platforms can mount to, and curved bars will require an adapter bar. In most cases, the popular Aero/Wing bars will suit, such as the Rhino Rack Vortex bars or the Yakima Aero Through bars. Others, unfortunately, won't be compatible at all.

Please note that this won't be suitable for all vehicles, as this will also take away from your overall weight load capacity. Our customer service team will be able to advise you if it is possible and what you may require to make it fit.

Another option for mounting a platform or basket to existing bars is to use the mesh style, which is specifically designed to mount to bars. These offer a more lightweight and cost-efficient solution for your needs.

Mesh baskets will require a mounting kit specific to your bar style to attach.
